Culture: Opera in the castle theatre Riom

Experience a cultural delight surrounded by an extraordinary location: The castle theatre Riom is located in the picturesque scenery on a hill above Savognin. Built in the 13th century the castle itself impresses fans of opera by its unique architecture and special backdrop.

The castle theatre Riom was opened 2006 by federal president Leuenberger and is the first professional Rhaeto-Romanic theatre worldwide. Every summer the castle is venue for diverse performances. Today the Origen Festival is the biggest classical festival in Grisons and hosts “Samson & Delila” in Summer 09. In addition to the play about one of the most ambivalent lovers in the Western cultural history you can also see further scenic plays showing the myth of Samson from different views and interpretations.
